The Swing of Summer
Reflecting on Submerge and an invitation to a new studio opening August 1st!
Whirlwind
So far this summer has been one for the books when it comes to my life in art. Submerge, the art show in June featuring Jarita Hui, Taylor Pelella, and myself was very successful! I also got keys to a new art space in June, and have been working hard all July to get it ready to open on August 1st. Having my work in a gallery and moving into an art studio outside of the house makes me feel like I’m on a good path in my creative life. I have some amazing collaborators and a determination that is necessary for development and growth. The march of time has had a quick pace the last couple of months and I’ve done my best to keep up with seeing these opportunities and projects through while balancing work, life, and time with friends and family. It’s been a whirlwind, but I am grateful for the momentum!
Tackle Box
I am so thrilled about this new space that my friend Willa Goettling and I are opening. We’ve painted the walls and floor, moved in a lot of heavy furniture and my Laguna etching press, built a table with the generous help of Evan Easthope, and filled the space with our supplies and art. It’s been a lot of hard work, but also really fun to see the space come alive with our presence. Big shoutouts to Tom, Evan, Jared, and Peik for helping us move and build out the studio!
An exciting thing about this space is that it’s in Pioneer Square at the center of the First Thursday Art Walk. This means every month that we’re open we’ll be able to share our work and others with anyone who walks through the door on those busy Thursdays.
It feels so good to be at a place where I can move my art practice out of the house. One of the things I’m looking forward to is the focused time. There will be fewer distractions which will help with my creative productivity. It has a really lovely vibe that makes me feel calm and happy. I can’t wait to spend a lot of time there!
I also want to share how grateful I am to open up Tackle Box Studios with my good friend Willa Goettling. Willa is a top-tier person, a fantastic artist, brilliant, funny, and a complete joy to collaborate with and be around. I can’t wait to see what projects we work on together, and what artwork Willa creates on their own.
We have big dreams for Tackle Box Studios so follow our journey on Instagram @tackleboxstudios. To celebrate our new space we are having an opening party on August 1st during Pioneer Square’s First Thursday Art Walk. We hope you can make it!
Here are some photos of the space ~
Big shout out to Evan Easthope for helping us, tbh doing most of the build of, this BEAUTIFUL flat file table.
Submerge Recap
Submerge, the group show with Jarita, Taylor, and myself, was very successful and felt really good to do. We had great turnouts for the two opening events, so thank you to everyone who showed up!! It felt amazing to see all of my work up in one place, and for some of that work to have found homes is even better! Putting on shows with friends is so sweet and I’m just really grateful for the opportunity. Big shout out to Liz and Indigo Slate for having us!

Also, here’s a photo of one of my pieces installed!! So sweet!
Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and my art practice! I’m looking forward to making some new art and will continue to share what I’m working on here! Hope everyone is having a lovely summer!!
