Spring Happenings
Three paper lithography offerings, wrapping up a commission
Seasons Shifting
It’s been a while, seasons have come and gone. We are at the precipice of another shift from winter to spring. I’ve experienced a lot of change, which I will go into more in depth in a future newsletter. Winter has been welcomed this year, as I’ve needed to hibernate and be reclusive to heal and grieve. I almost don’t want it to end. The year is already picking up speed and I am still longing for quiet and solitude. But, seasons shift. We must shift with them. It’s been an unseasonably warm winter in Seattle, and it feels like things are blooming earlier and earlier every year. So maybe it’s also that we aren’t getting long enough winters anymore, we aren’t getting enough time to rest and replenish when the year expects so much from us. I don’t know, I think I’m just moving slower and needing more space and time, and my life hardly allows for that. All that being said, I am looking forward to spring, to all the flowers and hopefully some new energy. I have a lot of exciting things coming up in the spring and summer, so on we go!
Emergence
I had the privilege of working on another commission recently and it was so special to finally deliver it and see it in it’s new home. This piece is called “Emergence” and it is so vibrant and full of life. It feels like June, that time between spring and summer where everything is blooming and buzzing with life. I am learning things with each commission about how I like to bring people into my process and create for them a unique piece with them in mind.

Paper Lithography Workshops
Paper lithography is the process that I use to make my mixed media work. It’s a monoprint process (meaning they are one of one) similar to traditional stone lithography where immiscibility is at play (water and oil don’t mix). In paper lithography wax-based photocopy toner bonds with oil-based relief ink and is then transferred with pressure. In my workshops I will go over how to edit your images to be made into high contrast photocopies, what tools and supplies are needed and how to print using a press and by hand. You’ll walk away with prints made in class. These workshops are hosted at Tackle Box in Pioneer Square, Seattle.
I’m offering a Monday workshop for the folks who work on the weekends. If the price is a barrier, please reach out, I have one subsidized spot available.
There are three offerings this spring:
Saturday, April 18th
1 - 4 pm
$110 (plus fees and tax)
Monday, April 27th

Coming up
I am very busy in the studio the new few months. I am a featured guest artist at Ryan James Fine Art in June, where I will be showcasing two new 36 x 42 in. pieces along with some older work. Then in August I will have my first solo show at Eight Roses Gallery. I am making a lot of new and exciting work using natural dye processes and paper lithography. I will share more about this in future newsletters.
Thanks for following along!
