Hibernation
Some new art and inspirations keeping me warm in the winter and thoughts on the valuable resource of time.
Midwinter
Time moves a little slower at the beginning of the year, after a stretch when I can hardly catch my breath as I sprint through November and December, a swirl of holidays, consumerism, and short days. I had a really lovely time in California in December where I got to play with my band SOAR and see my family for Christmas and New Years. I’m grateful for that time and it filled my cup.
I actually really like January and February. I don’t fully subscribe to the ‘new year, new you’ thing, but I do feel like it’s a little more spacious, so I can lean into some healthier habits and set intentions for what I’d like to focus on in the coming year. It’s quiet and cozy. I’m resting and hibernating while, of course, still plotting my garden and an art show in the spring.
Some inspiration
Recently, I walked around Pioneer Square and visited all my favorite galleries. Greg Kucera has a great show up of secondary market artworks. Here are a few that were inspiring to me ~
Time is a Swift Arrow
The older I get, the faster time goes by. It feels more and more like a very precious resource. How we spend our time matters, who we spend it with, what we spend it doing. It’s a gift we can give, and that feels good to receive. I don’t want to waste my time. Although spaciousness and “empty” time are also very valuable. I want to focus my energy on time with my loved ones, uplifting and supporting my community, making art, and nourishing my body and mind. This new piece has me thinking a lot about it. I’m grateful that I have the time and space to make my art.
Thank you for taking the time to read my words and look at my pictures! I really appreciate you being here!
